Hiccup never once let go of your hand.

Not when you were walking down the castle halls, not when you entered the throne room, and when your father came to hug you he grabbed your hand when he pulled away.

“It’s good to see you again.” He said, giving you a rare smile. “You’re alright, I hope?”

“I’m fine.” You said. “It just feels weird to be wearing a dress again.”

Your father chuckled, and then turned to Hiccup. “And I think it’s safe to assume that you’ve let nothing bad happen to her, right?”

“O-Of course.” Hiccup spoke just a little too quickly, but thankfully your father doesn’t catch details like that.

And it’s not like he really needed to know about the incident that happened the first week.

Your father glared at Hiccup for a little while longer before turning back to you. “I have decided that after the wedding, I will step down. So Arthur will be taking over.”

Well, you hadn’t seen that one coming.

“And while this goes unspoken, I want you two to still visit. Even though your top priority will now be Berk, some matters will still need your approval.” Both you and Hiccup nodded, and then your father continued. “And speaking of approval, I need you two to meet with the wedding planners to tell them your ideas and what not.”

“Who in Odin’s name are-“ You started to speak, but was cut off as the doors to the throne room burst open, revealing a rather worried looking Toothless.  The dragon looked around franticly, and spotting Hiccup, bounded over. He tackled his rider to the ground, jerking you forward as well.

“Ack-Toothless!” He tried to fight the Night Fury off, but to no avail. “(Name), little help?”

“What am I supposed to do?!” You asked. You didn’t have any dragon nip, you couldn’t scratch under his chin (as he would completely crush Hiccup), and you couldn’t pull him away either.

“I don’t know, just think of something!”

You groaned, and then spotted the sword hanging at your father’s waist.

“Can I borrow this?” You asked, snatching it before you could get a response. You then waved it around, catching a beam of light and creating a little spot on the floor. “Hey Toothless~!”

The dragon looked up, his ears perking up as he spotting the patch of light. He then hopped off Hiccup, and started to chase it around the room.

Hiccup slowly got up, and all three of you looked back to the doors as your brother, Aurora and Terror came in. “God, that dragon’s fast.”

“Sorry about that.” Hiccup smiled sheepishly.  Arthur waved his hand in a carefree manor, and then they both turned to look at you. You had just gotten Toothless to calm down, and was handing the sword back to your father, muttering an apology.

Your father shook his head, and then sheathed the sword. “As I was saying, you need to go meet with the wedding planners, and then you’re free to do what you wish.”

“And who might those wedding planners be?” You took your original spot besides Hiccup, now joined with your brother and 3 dragons.

Your father listed of some names, none of which you hand heard, and as you started to find these unknown people, your father stopped you again. “And Hiccup.”

The Viking turned to face the king. “Yes?”

“If you hurt (Name) in anyway, just know that there is no where that you can hide.”

That statement surprised you, and Hiccup’s reply surprised you even more.

“I know.”

oOo

You headed straight to the wedding planners (with Arthur in tow), and when you told them your plans, they seemed rather hesitant to add them. But, after a well-placed growl from Aurora you had no further complications.

After that you and Hiccup had nothing to do. So you took both boys out to the stable, where Hiccup and Arthur had a rather nice bonding experience. Night quickly fell however, and you were sent back to the castle.

The dragons had to stay in the stables, and you were rather disappointed to find that you and Hiccup had separate rooms (It was, as you told said man rather heatedly, because you had grown used to Hiccup’s quite breathing and Toothless’ snores).  After Hiccup had gotten out his laughter, a fight went on between you, him and your father to get the dragons to stay in the castle, but, as usual, you lost.

Despite the rather sleepless nights, the next two day’s passed by rather quickly, and on the day the rest of Berk arrived, you and Hiccup were readily waiting on the docks.

You were greeted by every single Viking, and when Gobber approached you, he pulled you two aside.

“I have something for you two.” He said, handing both of you small wooden boxes.

“What’s this?” You asked, opening the lid ever so slightly.

“An early wedding present if you will.” Gobber replied, grinning as both of you let out a gasp.

“Oh Gobber, their beautiful!”

In the box was a black leather cored with a small silver outline dragon attached. In place of where it’s eye should be was a gem. Yours was an emerald, while Hiccup’s was (e/c) gem. Both you and Hiccup wasted no time in putting them on.

Gobber continued to grin before clearing his throat, putting on a look of semi-seriousness. “Well, I have to go and help Stoick, so I’ll see you two around.”

You watched the man hobble back to the ship, and then you both looked at each other, wide smiles on your faces.

The rest of the evening was rather eventful, and the next day was chaotic.

You spent half the day with Astrid, trying to convince the wedding planners that your dress was absolutely fine (as it was not traditional English, they had to object). It took a well placed Spine Shot from Stormfly to get them to agree.

You then spent a few hours in the ballroom with your father, organizing the placing of all the wedding things.  And then you spent the last hours of the day helping to get all the dragons settled into the stable.

And you hadn’t seen Hiccup all day.

So now you were lying in your bed, arms behind your head as you stared up at the ceiling. The moonlight from the nearly full moon filtered through the window, causing your already awake self to become even more awake.

It was the night before you wedding, and you couldn’t even close your eyes.

You didn’t know how long you laid there, but you finally gave up.

You flung your covers to the floor, and then padded silently over to your closet. You put on some of the cloths you had made in Berk, grabbed your fur cloak, shoved your feet into some boots, and then went into the hall.

Hiccup’s room was down the hall from yours, and you didn’t even bother to knock as you quietly walked in.  “Are you up?”

You were rewarded with a ‘yes’.

“Then get dressed.”

“Why?” Hiccup asked, but got up out of bed nonetheless.  You rolled your eyes, and then closed the door. Hiccup emerged a few moments later, donned in a long sleeved green tunic, a fur vest, brown pants and boots.

The both of you then set off down the halls, and once you were safely out of the castle, you let out a breath you didn’t realize you had been holding in.

“Where are we going anyway?” Hiccup asked, matching you step for step as you walked swiftly through the grounds.

“The stables.” You replied.

Hiccup didn’t bother to tell you that your father had forbidden the two of you form going. He wanted to go anyway.

When the two of you reached the stables, every single dragon perked up as you opened the door. Toothless let out a happy coo, and then bounded over to Hiccup, nuzzling his rider. You smiled at the two, and then made your way over to Aurora, who opened a wing. You settled into the hay next to her, and then gestured to Hiccup.

The Viking lay down next to you, hesitating ever so slightly.  Toothless then joined you, taking his place next to Hiccup and adding his wing to the dome.

The two of you laid in silence, until you said quietly, “So, we’re getting married tomorrow.”

“Yeah.” Silence then fell between you two again. “You know, I-“

You looked at Hiccup, blinking when he cut himself off. He looked like he was struggling with something, but you waited patently.  Finally he took a deep breath. “If I was to say that I liked you as-as more than a friend, how…how would you react?”

You blinked, before a small smile crossed you lips. “I think I would say that I liked you too.”

Hiccup stared at you wide eyed before his own smile came to his lips. “Then…I like you (Name), as more than a friend.”

“I like you too Hiccup. As more than a friend.” You let Hiccup pull you into his arms, happily accepting the kiss that came after.
